Tasty Crust
Some of my first memories of Maui is eating at Tasty Crust Restaurant in Wailuku. I would say that
Tasty Crust is a Maui classic. Its been there so long and all the locals go there. When I was little, we used to fly in from Honolulu, and the first stop of the morning would be at Tasty Crust. Located in Wailuku town, Tasty Crust is just a few minutes from Kahului (and the airport).
As the sign says, "Tasty Crust - World Famous Pancakes." Well, the pancakes here are pretty darn good. An order of pancakes would be "automatic." And if I'm extra hungry, I would get a bowl of saimin. I think the saimin at Tasty Crust is pretty famous, too. And its good on a cold morning, day, or night.
I think its a good place to start your Maui trip when you arrive in the morning. There always seems to be enough parking for everyone. And a good tasting meal will get your trip started right. But most important, you will see locals eating there. There will be more locals than tourists. So you know the food and service is good, and the price right. So make your first stop Tasty Crust.
